What You'll Do
- Evaluate and Treat Patients: Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide skilled interventions to improve functional independence, mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), cognition, and safety for patients in Acute Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation.
- Develop Patient-Centered Care Plans: Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as appropriate, and collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, and rehabilitation team members to support safe discharge planning and optimal patient outcomes.
- Documentation & Compliance: Complete accurate and timely documentation, clinical charging, and patient records in accordance with departmental, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Patient & Caregiver Education: Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, home safety, energy conservation, and discharge recommendations to promote continued recovery.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with members of the healthcare team to coordinate care, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, and contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment.
- Professional Practice: Maintain clinical competency through continuing education, support quality improvement initiatives, and uphold Novant Health policies, safety standards, and professional ethics.
- Operational Excellence: Manage caseload efficiently, meet departmental productivity expectations, and contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and remarkable patient experiences.
What We're Looking For
Education
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Occupational Therapist license in the applicable state.
- Current BLS certification (or obtained within organizational policy guidelines).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in Acute Care and/or Inpatient Rehabilitation.
- Experience treating medically complex, orthopedic, neurological, trauma, cardiac, and post-surgical patients.
- Knowledge of discharge planning and durable medical equipment recommendations.
