Job description

Overview

This is not a remote position, it will be in house.

The Virtual Patient Safety Assistant functions under the general direction of the Registered Nurse on the patient care units. The Assistant provides virtual patient observation by performing the listed duties within the context of their job description.

Position Reports To: Resource Unit Clinical Nursing Manager


Responsibilities

  1. Obtains verbal report from the patient’s nurse and previous virtual sitter to include information regarding the patient’s identified observational needs, any visual, auditory, or language barriers as well as any special considerations (bed alarms, restraint use, etc.), and room safety/risk mitigation for low-risk suicide ideation patients.

  2. Maintain constant visual observation of the patient using the virtual sitter software unless clinical staff is in the room. Visual observations will be paused while patient care is being performed by clinical staff and resume once care is completed.

  3. Accurately records data and notifies RN of any change in patient.

  4. Notifies RN or CNA of patient needs or risks as identified.

  5. Obtains instructions from nurse regarding course of action for redirection of patient if needed.

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.

Desired:

  • One year of direct patient experience.
