NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Maritime Electrical Manager to lead electrical engineering and integration efforts for new vessel construction and refit projects. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this leader will oversee shipboard electrical system design, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate closely with engineering, production, and project management teams. The ideal candidate pairs technical mastery with strong leadership capabilities in a fast?paced maritime environment.
Position Overview
The Senior Maritime Electrical Manager is responsible for electrical system development, documentation review, engineering coordination, and technical oversight. This role requires deep shipboard electrical knowledge, familiarity with Classification Society standards, and the ability to guide teams from preliminary design through commissioning.
This position serves as a key engineering authority and supports schedule performance, safety compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design & Oversight
- Lead the creation of electrical system designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Review and approve all electrical engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee electrical system integration for new builds and modification projects.
- Supervise and mentor electrical engineers, designers, and support staff.
- Assign tasks, establish priorities, and ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones.
- Support professional development and maintain a collaborative team environment.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and production departments.
- Participate in project scheduling, planning, and progress reviews.
- Support production teams with technical guidance during installation and commissioning phases.
- Ensure all designs meet ABS, USCG, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Oversee quality checks and resolve electrical field discrepancies or technical challenges.
- Maintain strict adherence to engineering standards, safety practices, and shipyard procedures.
- Identify opportunities to streamline electrical engineering processes and improve product quality.
- Address issues rapidly while maintaining safety, schedule, and technical integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years of maritime or shipyard electrical engineering experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, with familiarity in ShipConstructor or similar design systems.
- Strong understanding of shipboard electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, automation, comms).
- Ability to interpret ABS and Coast Guard rules and apply them effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and multitasking abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PLC systems, power management systems, and advanced shipboard technologies.
- Familiarity with shipyard production workflows and safety procedures.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple electrical engineering projects simultaneously.
Physical Demands
- Correctable vision to 20/40; Ishihara color vision test required.
- Must pass pulmonary function testing for respirator?required areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, and climb ladders or stairs.
- Ability to work overhead and maneuver through 18" x 23" openings.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and maintain static positions for extended periods.
- Must not have fear of heights and may work at elevations exceeding 50 feet.
- Must be able to carry tools/equipment up to 75 lbs.
