Position Summary

The Tile Setter is responsible for laying, cutting, and installing tile, marble, and granite surfaces in accordance with project specifications and company quality standards. This includes preparing surfaces, applying adhesives, and ensuring proper alignment and finish. The position operates within a union environment and must comply with applicable collective bargaining agreements, OSHA standards, and Harbinger Production safety and quality policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Lay and set tiles to create floor and wall designs.

· Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools.

· Prepare, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered.

· Mix, apply, and spread cement, glue, or other adhesives using hand tools.

· Align and straighten tiles using levels and squares.

· Cut, polish, and install marble and granite.

· Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements

· Previous experience as a tile and marble setter (preferred).

· Basic carpentry and mathematical skills.

· Ability to operate hand and machine cutting tools.

· Knowledge of tiling designs and installation techniques.

· Ability to work crouching or kneeling for long periods.

· Strong problem-solving skills.


Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching during the shift.

· Occasional overhead work and use of ladders or lifts.

· Regular use of hand and power tools; repetitive hand and arm motions may be required.


Union Classification & Compensation

This is a union position covered by Carpenters Local 180, classification PWT–PW2.

Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $26.20 per hour (commensurate with experience and classification level).


Work Environment

Work is performed in a production or construction setting with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and materials related to tile setting and carpentry work. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times in designated areas.
