Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, and characterize micro- and nanoscale devices for advanced optical imaging systems, biosensors, and MEMS-enabled instrumentation using cleanroom microfabrication techniques.

Perform photolithography, thin-film deposition, nanofabrication, device characterization, optical testing, and system integration to support biomedical imaging research.

Collaborate with engineers, scientists, physicians, and trainees to develop innovative technologies for real-time optical biopsy, early cancer detection, and image-guided surgery.

Apply image analysis, machine learning, and computational methods to evaluate device performance and improve diagnostic capability.

Maintain laboratory documentation, equipment, safety compliance, and perform other related research duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree, preferable in Engineering

4-5 years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

Masters degree

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
