Job description

SUMMARY
Assists in the repair and preventative maintenance work on equipment per the preventive maintenance schedule. Specifically to mills and other items as directed by supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Upon completion of training, the maintenance trainee will have ability to:

Understand Standard Operating Procedures (start up, shut down, adjustment) and to repair all machinery breakdowns.
Perform preventative maintenance on designated equipment as per PM schedule.
Equipment changeover and conversion procedures.
Emergency operating procedures.
Lubrication procedure.
Perform repairs and upgrades on building facilities.
Perform necessary machinery mechanical modifications and upgrades.
Performs minor repairs on ink jets and strappers.
Inspect all inkjet printer heads, cleans daily.
Clean maintenance room and cage thoroughly every week.
Disassemble, troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment to component level, returning to good condition.
May learn to weld, burn and cut.
Have knowledge of gear boxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
SAFETY

Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
Training to properly inspect equipment and completes any forms as required.
Wears and maintains all required PPE.
Understands or is training to understand, all safety devices and their operation.
Keeps maintenance department clean, organized and safe.
Training to complete required paperwork for use with portable welding equipment and ladders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mechanically Inclined

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Must pass basic mechanical aptitude assessment and applied reading test.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and changing fractions into decimals
  • Ability to reach a tape measure, caliper and micrometer accurately
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting - Up to 50 lbs
Standing - 8 or more hours per day
Walking - Off /On for 4-6 hours per day
Body Positions - Stooping, bending, squatting, reaching overhead, extending arms - Occasionally
Walking - On and off 4-6 hours per day
Body Positions - Stooping, bending, squatting, reaching overhead, exentinding arms
Grasping - Both hands intermittently up to 8-hours per day
Sitting - Occasionally
Pushing and Pulling - Tools & Machine parts up to 50 lbs
* Climbing - Occasionally
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Manufacturing facility - exposed to heat & cold
  • Personal Protective Equipment required at all times
  • Hearing Protection Required at all times
  • Activity level is high - continous overhead crane and forklift operation
