Location: Mogadishu, Somalia

Clearance Level: Department of State (DOS) – Top Secret/SCI

Primary Function:

You would be responsible for researching and analyzing intelligence reports and data, providing written and oral briefings to the client, contractor leadership, and the security team. You would be assigned to the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) and the SCIF. This position supports Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders (TO) in austere environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze all-source intelligence addressing a broad range of issues, focusing on insurgent capabilities and actions, political and cultural climates, tribal and social networks, and other issues as required.
  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence, reviewing this information for credibility, urgency, and specific target information.
  • Produce concise written and oral intelligence reports for use by embassy management and DS personnel.
  • Prepare daily written and oral intelligence summary reports for applicable personal protection, guard force, and emergency response team services.
  • Prepare assessments and spot reports.
  • Brief appropriate DS personnel on security matters pertaining to the operating environment on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Notify/communicate urgent threat information to the appropriate DS personnel.
  • Perform liaison work with U.S. officials and military units on site, and with counterparts in DS on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a situational map of incidents and a database of known threats, events, and indications of enemy intent.
  • Develop and use an indication and warning matrix to illustrate possible enemy intent and prepare reports that support these conclusions.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a minimum of two (3) years of all-source intelligence analytical experience.
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of overseas experience performing as an intelligence analyst.
  • Must have completed a formal military intelligence training course or have equivalent training through classified online courses and work experience demonstrating the use and function of the U.S. intelligence cycle.
  • Must attend and successfully complete a supervisory course
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.

Training (Paid Training):

  • Attend and successfully complete the DOS Non-Protective Security Specialist Basic. If already completed and/or served on a DOS TO within the last 3 years, will be eligible to deploy directly to TO.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
  • Must be able to do the following: walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission‐essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
  • Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as off‐road.
  • Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
  • Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
