GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER MGTF Range Services, Eglin Air Force Base, FL Open Position Request Number: R-57-26 CLASSIFICATION: General Maintenance Worker; CBA Rate $24.58 Hourly GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time LOCATION: Eglin Air Force Base, FL - On Site POSTING DATE: Internal Applicants (05/13/2025) / External Applicants (05/20/2025) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The General Maintenance Worker must have the ability to read, interpret and apply technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics and similar guides and have the ability to use test equipment and common mechanic's hand tools. Work is performed under minimal supervision and varies in the combination of trade practices that are performed in different work situations throughout the E-OMS contract. Performs a variety of tasks involved in the construction and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.

Typical work assignments include the performance of visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of repair work. Ascending and descending towers, inspecting, and maintaining towers to include lights, guy wires, and spot corrosion control, installation of antenna mounts on towers, replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors. Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery, may be required to operate equipment such as forklifts, and other small equipment.

Maintenance and repair of exterior structures, buildings, fixtures/targets, automated target systems (ATS) and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, concrete work, painting, tower maintenance and other related trades. GENERAL DUTIES: * Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. * Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

* General Maintenance Workers may be required to be familiar with the use and maintenance of personal safety climbing accessories. * Essential job functions may also include controlling range test areas and/or repairs to towers, involving replacement of cross-members, bolts, and other tower hardware. * The position may require the ability to climb towers up to 300 feet in height.

Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include planning, estimates and providing guidance or instructions to lesser skilled personnel. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class "A" or "B" may be required. May be required to be familiar with the use and maintenance of personal safety climbing accessories.

Structures may not be equipped with climbing cages, but all will be equipped with safety devices for ascending and descending towers. Respirator qualifications are required in some areas. May be required to handle hazardous materials and/or collect hazardous waste.

May require housekeeping duties in assigned work areas. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have either formal training, acquired through vocational certification or military service school training or a certified apprentice program, in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting , and 3 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades mentioned above, or 5 years verifiable experience in at least two the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting. Must have the ability to read, interpret and apply technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics and similar guides and have the ability to use test equipment and common mechanic's hand tools.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Applicant is required to have a valid Drivers' License and be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at various heights above ground level. May perform duties both inside and outside and be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical to the work area PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions. The position may provide an opportunity to climb towers up to 300 feet in height, to perform maintenance and repair on Towers located throughout Eglin AFB.
