HS Attendance Secretary
Position Purpose To oversee and assume responsibility for the attendance process by recording accurate student attendance, organizing documentation for absences, and making referrals to the social worker when attendance concerns reach certain thresholds.
Essential Job Functions - Use student database to monitor the teacher recording of attendance.
- Manually update attendance for tardy students and those leaving for appointments.
- Record absence details in the student database.
- Produce a daily absence list each morning.
- Coordinate the automated and manual processes of contacting the guardians of absent students.
- Prepare letters to guardians regarding attendance concerns utilizing mail merge function.
- Produce reports from the student database regarding attendance for Coaches, Assistant Principals and Study Hall Monitors.
- Enter all doctor notes into Skyward and file in student's file.
- Coordinate the referral process for students with concerning levels of absence or tardiness according to township policies.
- Collaborate with social worker for student needs
- Collaborate with student success team to increase student attendance rates
- Cover for other Student Service office staff as needed due to breaks or absences.
- Process Homework Requests for students absent for 3 or more consecutive days.
- Receive and process textbook orders.
- Enter attendance into Skyward for students attending field trips.
- Assist with other duties as needed.
Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone.
Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rate $16.65 per hour.
Work Schedule 8.0 hours per day.
200 days per year.

- Typing skills above 60 WPM.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Skyward and Publisher.
- Provide excellent customer service to parents and staff.

License/ Registration/ Certification Education - High School Diploma or high school equivalency degree.
Experience - Previous experience using a student database, proficiency with Skyward and Google products, preferred.
