Course Description:

We are seeking a part-time instructor to teach SED 1115: Embedded Programming and Scripting, a 3-unit course designed to introduce students to foundational embedded programming and scripting for physical applications, through hands-on work with the Raspberry Pi platform and Python programming language. The course focuses on developing practical automation, monitoring, and control scripts, culminating in a simple project that is built and tested during the course. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging lectures and laboratories, and facilitate discussions on course topics
Create and assess assignments, laboratories, projects, and examinations that evaluate course competencies
Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and digital fluency
Align teaching with the approved course description and learning outcomes
Coordinate examinations and other course elements with SED 1515

Requirements:

Required:
Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Demonstrated teaching or professional training experience in programming
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Solid understanding of embedded systems, Raspberry Pi hardware, and Python scripting
Experience with educational projects involving Raspberry Pi or similar platforms
Industry or research experience in embedded systems, automation, or IoT
Familiarity with basic electronics and interfacing sensors/actuators
Experience designing and supervising hands-on student projects
Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to students with varying levels of
programming experience
Experience teaching diverse student populations and fostering inclusive
learning environments
Experience promoting an active and experiential classroom
