We are looking for a candidate who is willing to perform soldering operations to seal a unit cover to housing using a variety of Hi-temp soldering equipment.

What You Will Do

  • You will work with an induction soldering machine, hi-temp soldering irons, acetylene torch.
  • When units are sealed, they are backfilled with a helium/nitrogen gas.  A water leak test & a helium leak test is performed using appropriate test equipment.
  • Will be required to rework units until they pass all leak tests.
  • Some basic electronic assembly hand soldering of electrical wires and mixing chemicals to bond materials is also necessary.
  • All work will be performed according to specific work instructions on a variety of units.
  • Position parts in fixtures for brazing & hi-temp soldering
  • Equipment set up:
    • Induction Solder Machine
    • Hi-temp 250-Watt soldering iron
    • Acetylene torch
  • Select torch tips, solder type, and fluxes per assembly Instructions.
  • Adjustment of acetylene gas cylinder regulator for optimum torch flame.
  • Leak test rig set up including adjustment of nitrogen & oxygen gas cylinder regulators.
  • Examine hi-temp joined areas for integrity - bead size, penetration etc..
  • Grind off excess slag or spatter.
  • Clean parts using solvent.
  • Maintenance of equipment including fabricating Induction Soldering Machine heating coils.
  • Maintain inventory control of all materials and chemicals used in the area.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition, EHS regulations apply.  
  • Operate 11149 Sensor test rig, using Hot Oil and Hot Air to calibrate / test sensors built.
  • This is a position that is “hands on” requiring manual dexterity and coordination skills.
  • 2nd Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:30pm to 11pm

Work Environment

  • You may occasionally need to provide weekend and holiday support to meet customer needs.
  • In your role, you will be exposed to:
    • Products of various weights and sizes
    • Equipment with moving parts
    • Chemicals that may emit fumes
  • To minimize safety risk to you and product, you must wear static-control and personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Due to the nature of our work, you will need to be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Distinguishing colors and meeting vision requirements
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, turning as needed to place units in test stands, pick up totes, place units on rack, etc.
  • Using hands for extended periods of time to perform testing and troubleshooting tasks (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation)
  • Must be able to stand for 2 hour increments without an opportunity to sit
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Transporting product with or without product carts

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Experience with solder and electromechanical assembly
  • Experience with schematics or blueprints
  • Experience with using a computer for data lookup and entry

  • J-Standard certification
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with using thermal principles as applied to metals & is familiar with metalworking concepts
