The Prime Business Negotiations team is seeking a strategic relationship lead for negotiating trading and regulatory documentation across a diverse portfolio of Prime Brokerage and Futures clients. In this role, you will not only manage sophisticated negotiations but also drive broader initiatives to enhance the firm's negotiation framework. This is a critical opportunity for a candidate with 5+ years of experience to influence the growth trajectory of a premier global business.
Principal Responsibilities
- Strategic Negotiation: Lead the end-to-end execution of a wide range of trading and operational agreements, including Prime Brokerage, Futures, CDEA, ISDA/CSA, MCA, and regulatory Initial Margin (IM) documentation.
- Legal & Commercial Advisory: Partner with Prime Services Legal to synthesize and articulate complex contractual revisions, providing actionable insights and commercial context for internal stakeholders.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Function as a lead expert in Prime Brokerage architecture, GS-specific margin platforms, and the nuanced sensitivities of cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Stakeholder Orchestration: Cultivate strong partnerships across Sales, Credit, Risk, and Treasury to secure approvals and provide timely, strategic guidance on open contractual terms.
- Bespoke Strategy Development: Design and execute tailored negotiation strategies that balance institutional client objectives with the firm's risk, legal, and commercial mandates.
- High-Profile Client Management: Independently lead sensitive negotiations with top-tier institutional clients, ensuring effective communication, rapid issue resolution, and seamless execution.
- Process Innovation: Spearhead negotiation improvement initiatives, driving operational excellence and workflow enhancements across divisions.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, MBA, JD, or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in client relationship management or legal negotiation within Prime Brokerage, Futures, or Derivatives.
- Technical Precision: Deep technical knowledge of key documentation types and complex legal entity structures (e.g., hedge funds, insurance companies, and alternative investment vehicles).
- Commercial Acumen: A proactive approach to driving process improvements and workflow enhancements.
- Execution Under Pressure: Demonstrated ability to review and negotiate detailed legal documents with precision and commercial awareness in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Influencing Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and articulate complex legal/commercial issues with clarity.
- Technological Adaptability: Proficiency with document management platforms and a curiosity for leveraging new technologies to drive scalability.
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150,000-$300,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
