Job description


Responsibilities:

  3. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Maintains building components such as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Variable Refrigerant Flow, Steam, Hot Water, gas, Building Automation, Energy Management, and Work Order Management systems. Log equipment performance readings as assigned
  4. Provide a wide variety of skilled task including installation, repairs, troubleshooting, planning, modifications, and calibration of instrumentation for building Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVAC&R) and energy management systems. Modifies, designs and change control circuits; install temporary components and/or systems to sustain operations and provides technical advice and support to operators and other technicians. Maintains fire rated wall, ceiling and floor assembly penetrations with approved UL rated firestop compounds.
  5. Shall have a working knowledge of the Institutional HVAC Systems, ASHRAE Standards, NFPA Life Safety Code and applicable OSHA regulations or have an ability to acquire such knowledge in a short period of time.
  6. Monitor equipment & utility systems and log performance indication readings.
  7. Review Work Orders daily and complete associated tasks/repairs by Type/Priority and document the "as found" condition, troubleshooting/repair details, list any testing equipment (w/calibration dates), test results data, photos, verbal/written documentation of communication with Requestor and final "as corrected" condition. Document root causes for all equipment failures. Maintains detailed and accurate records of system repairs, temperature, humidity and air flow as required by authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) and medical center policy.
  8. Under supervision, ensure safe and efficient operation of HVAC&R equipment including Boilers, Chillers, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Air Handling Equipment, variable frequency drives, remote terminal units, and follows through to completion any required repairs maintenance and alterations.

  10. Working weekends and different shifts will be required.
  11. Requires the ability to work under and handle stressful situations.
  12. Must be a quick thinker and able to displays positive emotional behavior, as well as apply positive social skills with co-workers, vendors, customers, and patients.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree/Apprenticeship Program* and minimum of 6 years of experience maintaining commercial/industrial Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Systems. In lieu of an Associate Degree/Apprenticeship Program, 10 years of maintaining commercial/industrial Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration will be accepted.
  • Must be able to demonstrate general personal computer data entry proficiency and basic control diagnostic procedures.
  • Due to insurance regulations, must be at least 21 years of age with a valid SC driver's license.
  • EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification
  • NATE Excellence Level, HVAC Excellence, Municipal Association of South Carolina ASC Journeyman Unlimited A/C, or equivalent
