Job Description
The Family Resource Center (FRC) is hiring a highly motivated temporary on-call staff member to work in the department. We are looking for an individual who is customer-service and team-oriented to represent the FRC and the University to campus visitors and members of the Notre Dame family. Overall, this position isstructured to be highly collaborative and service-oriented, and we areseeking an individual who can balance administrative tasks with creative programming and active community engagement.
This position is a twelve-month position at 18 hours per week. Typical hours: August through May (academic year), Monday - Thursday 12 pm - 4 pm and Fridays 12 pm - 2 pm, June and July (summer months) Tuesday - Thursday 11 am-5 pm.
Position Responsibilities
Administrative
- Serve as frontline staff, greeting visitors and answering inquiries via phone or in person. Being a role model for the FRC expectation of offering welcoming hospitality.
- Help to ensure the safety and well-being of students, spouses, and guests using the facility.
- Maintain the membership and newsletter database
- Help the Program Director in hiring and training FRC student employees, temp employees and Senior Fellows.
Communications
- Content Creation: Designing flyers, writing posts and authoring the newsletter
- Platform Management: Managing a multi-channel social strategy including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. Serve as the moderator of the FRC WhatsApp groups.
- Outreach: Assist with on-campus activities representing the FRC
Programming
- Work with the Program Director and Grad Life Program Coordinator to create social and educational initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with all University of Notre Dame and Family Resource Center policies or students, spouses, families and guests.
- Organize event logistics such as purchasing supplies, making room reservations, and coordinating event staffing.
- Act as a flexible resource for the Program Director on special assignments.
- May be asked to provide coverage during non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate events planned by the FRC.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- 3 years of experience in programming-related or administrative work.
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
- As a representative of the Family Resource Center, must be able to effectively and courteously interact with students, spouses, student-families, staff, faculty, and visitors to the Family Resource Center.
- Must be people-oriented and be able to problem-solve with little direction.
- Must be self-motivated, respect confidentiality, and be able to work independently.
- Be knowledgeable of the University of Notre Dame resources, campus life, and activities.
- Have the ability to prioritize and handle events and tasks as they occur.
- Proficient in Google Applications - Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.
- Must be able to support Notre Dame's Catholic mission and teachings.
