Location: Norfolk, VA

NSC Technologies is seeking Shipwrights / Scaffolding with 3-5 years of experience for an exciting project in Norfolk, VA. This is a unique opportunity to join a skilled team working on repairing and modernizing a diverse range of marine vessels, including the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships. Key Responsibilities:
  • Erect, modify, maintain, and disassemble various temporary platforms, including staging and scaffolding for dry-docked and waterborne ships.
  • Build keel blocking, cradles, shoring, cribbing, and other structures to support ships in dry docks and shipways.
  • Layout, manufacture, and install temporary decking aboard ships.
  • Operate portable power equipment and hand tools to fabricate wood products (e.g., skids, ladders).
  • Inspect staging for safety discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Erect containment structures and apply shrink wrap for weather protection.
  • Install rubber, air, lead (RAL) tile, graphite tile, and Special Hull Treatment (SHT) materials.
  • Plan and layout work from blueprints and drawings; select materials and measure accurately using appropriate tools.
Trade-Specific Requirements:
  • Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in the shipwright trade, including at least two (2) years working on U.S. Navy ships or vessels.
Work Environment: You will work in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in industrial settings where attention to detail, quality work, and adherence to safety protocols are essential. Projects will involve hands-on welding and supervision of helpers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
