Hey, we're Glacier! Series A startup based in San Francisco tackling one of the world's most pressing problems: trash. Did you know that in the US, we send over half of our recyclables to the landfill? We're working to fix that. In doing so, we'll also be reducing carbon emissions, energy consumption, and depletion of natural resources.

Glacier builds custom sorting robots designed to sort apart recyclables as well as AI-powered business analytics that enable recyclers to superpower their plants and improve our society's circularity. From major CPG companies like Colgate and Amazon to municipal recycling facilities, our clients trust us to turn recycling data into actionable insights. Our technology has been recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions and featured in a TIME documentary, TechCrunch, Fortune, and CBS.

We're looking for a self-motivated Build Technician to join our production team and help us scale our deployments to new customer sites across the country. This role reports directly to our Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and test our in-house robot and scanner, following instructions provided by the engineering teams, as we continue to scale our deployments to new customer sites across the country

  • Organize and maintain our build facilities, tools, and related supplies

  • Provide feedback to engineers regarding build design and instructions

  • Assist our operations team with customer installs and associated packing, including up to a few days per month of travel and working an occasional overnight or weekend shift

  • Perform incoming inspection of custom parts, following part drawings

  • Collaborate with our R&D and field service engineers to refine our technical documents, such as assembly standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test protocols

Experience requirements:

  • Proficiency with tools and equipment commonly used in a hardware manufacturing environment, such as hand tools, power tools (electric/air), measurement tools, and electrical tools (multimeter and similar)

  • 2+ years professional experience assembling robotic systems or similar complex machinery

  • Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 50 lbs around install/build sites, with reasonable accommodations

  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending technical documents, such as assembly SOPs and test processes

  • Ability to work from our San Francisco office (SOMA neighborhood) on most days of the week

  • Ability to travel and work on-site occasionally (typically up to a few days at a time), including some nights and weekends

Bonus points:

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanical components, and sensors commonly used in robotics or automation systems

The annual compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000. In addition to cash compensation, Glacier also offers competitive benefits. The final compensation for this role will depend on many individualized factors, including job-related skills and knowledge, experience level, interview performance, and other factors.
