CRNA - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The CRNA conducts comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including obtaining health history, conducting physical exams, and ordering relevant diagnostic studies.
  • Administer appropriate pre-anesthetic medications and ensure patient readiness for anesthesia.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia procedures, including induction, maintenance, and emergence.
  • Provide preoperative and intra-operative care, including preparing equipment, monitors, supplies, and medications.
  • Manage all aspects of airway management, including inserting peripheral venous catheters and performing Bier Blocks.
  • Utilize non-invasive monitoring techniques to assess patient status and adjust anesthesia as needed.
  • The CRNA monitors patient response during emergence from anesthesia and implements necessary pharmacological or supportive interventions.
  • Conduct post-anesthesia follow-up evaluations to assess patient recovery and surgical outcomes.
  • Administer respiratory support as necessary to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation post-anesthesia.
  • Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support for cardiovascular stability in the post-anesthesia period.
  • Discuss anesthesia options and associated risks with patients, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence procedures safely and effectively.
  • The CRNA monitors patient's physiological conditions and intervene clinically as required to maintain stability.
CRNA - REQUIREMENTS
  • Have graduated from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia education.
  • Must have and maintain board certification or be recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Possess a current license as a registered professional nurse and hold a current license to practice medicine in GA or have a multi-state license.
  • Have at least one full year (12 months) of experience as a CRNA.
  • Possess BLS and ACLS certification through the AHA or ARC.
