Become a Mobile Trainer at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll provide support and guidance to local management and craft employees on the following: Apprentice Lineman program, On the Job Training (OJT) for Apprentices, program policies and corrective actions. The successful candidate will deliver a variety of training at designated work locations and will assist Districts in developing safe/efficient Journeymen Linemen through the Apprentice Lineman program. Responsibilities
  • Facilitates training such as new hire, new to role, refresher, just-in time performance-based training, continuous education and/or performance support, to students within T&D (such as electrical construction, maintenance and operations) in a classroom or field training environment
  • Participates as a subject matter expert to develop and maintain training curriculum, materials, performance support tools and assessments using the Systematic Approach to
  • Training (SAT), focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in T&D Training delivery (such as safety and compliance, new technology and equipment, and grid operations)
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to provide guidance and support to trainees focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures related to transmission, distribution, and substation operations
  • Administers and proctors classroom training tests and field assessments, determining pass/fail criteria and partnering with stakeholders to provide feedback to students in T&D training technical skills programs (such as lineman apprenticeship, substation operations, etc.)
  • Partners with front-line employees and stakeholders to resolve training issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including annual safety and compliance training
  • Participates in the development and execution of the technical training roadmap, strategic planning, and operational excellence initiatives, incorporating the latest industry trends and best practices. Organizes and oversees hands-on demonstrations and lab exercises to reinforce learning objectives and provide practical experience with electrical equipment and tools
  • Supports training delivery logistics and resources across multiple training locations, programs and systems on topics such as distribution construction and maintenance and electrical systems
  • Partners with and supports front-line leaders with employee performance management activities. Serves as a mentor to help students navigate their education and career paths in their technical field
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in T&D to incorporate relevant updates into training programs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, approved work methods and company policies in all training activities, maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment for all participants
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in electric utility line work, training and/or instructional design.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an adjunct instructor.
  • Consulting with clients to design training programs, developing training curriculum, and/or managing training deployment activities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with the Transmission & Distribution Apprentice Lineman training requirements.
  • Designing, developing or delivering technical or nontechnical training courses for various skill levels and classifications.
  • Knowledge of the ADDIE model.
  • Experience with the instructional design process.
  • Working with cross-functional workgroups.
  • Determining pass/fail criteria and corrective/coaching paths.

Additional Information
  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
