Job description

Summary: A Swim Lesson Instructor is responsible for teaching participants how to swim with emphasis on safety and survival skills.
Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 16 years old, prior to May 2026.
  • Starfish Aquatics Swim Instructor certification, or ability to obtain prior to starting work (training provided by the park district).
  • Current StarGuard Elite Lifeguard license and/or previous swim instructor experience is preferred. 

 
Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach class participants swimming and safety skills based on the Starfish Aquatics curriculum.
  • Communicate with participants and their parents on progress throughout each session.
  • Maintain swim instructor certification by attending in-service trainings.

 
Hours/Schedule: Working hours may vary, 20-25 hours per week. Swim lessons are offered in the mornings from 8-11am and in the evenings from 5-7pm.
Wages: The anticipated starting wage is $16.00 per hour
