Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer
Function: Engineering
Reporting To: Engineering Manager – US
Scope: Clarke Energy USA (long-term contract, contract-to-hire, or direct hire for the right candidate)
Location: Remote (with 10–20% travel to Clarke Energy, Waukesha, WI and client sites)
Work Mode: Remote

Position Purpose
Produce full electrical designs for gas-powered generation, CHP plants, and Renewable Natural Gas projects, providing support at all stages, from sales through installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Design:
    • Translate and develop concepts into designs to meet functional and contractual specifications.
    • Develop and detail specifications, calculations, and component selection.
  • Sales Support:
    • Assist in the sales stage by preparing conceptual designs and tender documents to required standards and timelines.
  • Collaboration:
    • Liaise with Mechanical Engineers to identify project requirements and develop detailed designs.
    • Coordinate with CAD Designers to ensure design packages are produced to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Project Support:
    • Provide documentation and support during design, installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
    • Liaise with customers and their representatives as needed.
  • Safety & Quality:
    • Lead/participate in HAZOP and risk assessment studies.
    • Adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management policies.
  • Site Visits:
    • Travel for customer meetings and site surveys (up to 30% travel).


Required Technical & Professional Skills
  • Proficient in engineering design software (CAD, ETAP, SKM or equivalent)
  • Project management, proposal development, scope interpretation, estimating, and risk mitigation
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • AutoCAD drafting package
    • One-line and three-line diagrams
    • Arc-flash hazard calculations and PPE determination
    • Protective relay and metering diagrams
    • AC/DC schematics, panel/equipment layouts, connection diagrams
    • Construction and equipment specifications, bill of materials, cable schedules
    • DC power distribution design
    • Grounding analysis and design
    • MV/LV power distribution, substations, advanced switchgear
    • IEC, UL, NFPA electrical standards

Requirements
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience, ideally in power generation (1–25MW) or Renewable Natural Gas
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage power trains, control/instrumentation
  • Experience with switchgear, transformers, cables, emergency power/UPS, protective relaying, grounding, lightning protection, and utility interconnection
  • Technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and training experience
  • Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD drafting
Desirable:
  • PE (Professional Engineer) registration
  • Experience with CHP, microgrid, battery, solar PV
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Homar
