Job description

Position Overview

Our client, a privately held manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead a growing business with full responsibility for operations, sales, financial performance, and team leadership. This role offers the opportunity to run the business as a complete operating unit while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive profitable growth and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is comfortable leading from the production floor to the boardroom, balancing strategic planning with day-to-day execution in a lean manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full P&L ownership and overall business leadership
  • Drive profitable growth through operational excellence and commercial strategy
  • Lead manufacturing, sales, and administrative teams while building accountability and performance
  • Improve plant efficiency, throughput, quality, safety, and on-time delivery
  • Develop sales strategy, strengthen customer relationships, and align production with demand
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, KPIs, and profitability
  • Build scalable processes and foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and teamwork


Qualifications

  • General Manager, Plant Manager, Operations Director, or similar manufacturing leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading operations with full P&L responsibility
  • Strong background in production, quality, scheduling, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Experience driving revenue growth while improving profitability and operational performance
  • Financial acumen with budgets, forecasting, KPIs, and margin management
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment


Preferred Experience

  • Custom manufacturing, millwork, cabinetry, furniture, woodworking, or other made-to-order manufacturing
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
  • Experience working in privately held or family-owned businesses
