This position is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and interest. The lab studies the neuronal basis of behavior.
Job Description:
- Design and execute Drosophila genetic crosses to support the lab's research program.
- Perform and analyze experiments related to the neuroanatomy of clock neurons and sleep/wake cycles in Drosophila.
- Manage a collection of Drosophila genetic strains and maintain the associated database.
- Meet weekly with the primary investigator to set experimental goals and review results.
- Attend and occasionally give weekly lab meetings with lab members to discuss lab research and relevant papers.
- Supervise and train new undergraduate students in the lab.
- Oversee general lab maintenance, including placing orders and managing inventory.
- Recent bachelor's or master's graduate with a degree in any STEM field, preferably Biology, Chemistry, or Neuroscience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills.
- At least one year of part-time research experience.
Working conditions/demands: The role requires the ability to move about within an office and lab environment.
