Job Summary: Gateaux Bakery, established in 1999, is nestled on the 11th block of Speer Blvd, right in the heart of The Golden Triangle Neighborhood.  We are situated between Cherry Creek and Downtown Denver.  A Retail Baker at Gateaux is responsible for baking cakes, breads, quiches, breakfast pastries, cookies, and the preparation of petit fours, creams, curds, mousses, icings, and laminated dough preparation. We prepare items for our retail storefront, as well as seasonal contract work. Gateaux Bakery offers premium quality cakes, petit fours, pastries and cookies, in a production setting, with hospitality at the forefront of our mission. With a commitment to artisanal craftmanship, our purpose is to create exceptional pastries, to honor provincial European influence, and to share our passion with our community.

Responsibilities: Mise en place/ Preparatory work- Weigh, measure, mix ingredients for doughs, batters, creams, curds, and icings, using commercial equipment and machinery. Must have experience with a dough sheeter and commercial convection oven.

Production: Monitor oven temperatures and bake times. Prepare and bake cakes, breads, pies, cookies, and bars for the storefront and seasonal contract work.  Develop desserts and pastries for special requests from a private client, seasonally.

Maintenance: Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, compliant with food safety, sanitation, and local health regulations.

Inventory: Track ingredient stock on weekly basis.  Assist with ordering and receiving supplies.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a commercial baking kitchen.  Baking and Pastry Arts diploma preferred but not required.

Skills and Physical Requirements: Capable of operating commercial equipment and machinery, calibrating baking scales, and scaling recipes accurately.  Sophisticated understanding of mixing and baking methods, as well as dough and batter preparation.  This is a standing work position, with a requirement of lifting ingredients weighing up to 50 lbs.

Certifications: ServSafe Certified

Pay Rate: $20-$25.00 maximum/ hourly rate (Maximum rate if candidate possesses all specifications listed herein Retail Baker Job Summary)

Schedule: Monday through Friday 6am- 2:30pm

Saturdays and Sundays: OFF
