Job description

DataBank is a leading provider of enterprise-class data center, cloud, and interconnection services, delivering 100% uptime for data, applications, and infrastructure. Headquartered in the historic Federal Reserve Bank Building in downtown Dallas, TX, DataBank helps customers manage risk, optimize technology performance, and focus on core business objectives.
DataBank is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our work culture at DataBank does not discriminate based on actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, alienage or national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, veterans' status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
DataBank is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, Frontend Engineering to lead all frontend engineering at DataBank, modernizing our web and mobile portfolio from legacy systems to modern React.JS-based solutions while maintaining full business continuity. This role requires a hands-on leader who can set the technical bar, develop people, and model how DataBank works: Extreme Ownership, Put People First, Be Data Centered, and Collaborate Before You Escalate. You will lead multiple teams, attract top talent, and build a culture of quality, pragmatic innovation, and engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Modernization
  • Own all frontend engineering across React.JS (web) and React Native (mobile), setting architectural standards, coding best practices, and engineering governance with clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Lead the pivot from legacy to modern, component-driven React.JS applications; apply deep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Next.js, HTML5, CSS3, and browser APIs to set the technical bar while ensuring zero disruption to business operations.
  • Lead Migration of legacy Angular.JS framework to modern React.JS with reusability and scale.
  • Drive performance optimization and scalable UI architecture; build and maintain a reusable component library in partnership with senior engineering leaders, UX, and product teams.
  • Evaluate and guide adoption of low-code platforms (e.g., OutSystems), balancing speed-to-market with long-term maintainability, measurable business value, and operational risk.

Team Building & Talent Development
  • Lead and grow multiple frontend engineering teams, attracting top talent, developing engineers and emerging leaders, and fostering a high-performance culture grounded in Extreme Ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Put People First by creating clear expectations, coaching with candor, and helping teams navigate ambiguity while aligning engineering capacity with business priorities and the modernization roadmap.

Quality, Release & Delivery
  • Champion shift-left quality: establish standards for testing (Playwright), accessibility (WCAG), and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) across web and mobile.
  • Own the end-to-end release lifecycle for both web and mobile, including release planning, versioning, deployment governance, rollback strategies, and mobile distribution via iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
  • Define and operate a structured release management framework: release trains, change control, environment promotion, and stakeholder communication across all frontend delivery.
  • Establish and track a meaningful engineering KPI framework covering delivery health (deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR, cycle time), quality (defect escape rate, test coverage), performance (Core Web Vitals, app load times), and team health.
  • Leverage APM and observability tools (New Relic) alongside KPI dashboards to model Be Data Centered: using evidence to prioritize work, validate improvements, and make tradeoffs transparent.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, API, Backend, Data, Analytics, QA, DevSecOps, Security and IT to translate requirements into actionable, high-quality, and delightful user experiences.
  • Model Collaborate Before You Escalate by resolving issues directly with cross-functional partners where possible, surfacing risks early, and representing frontend engineering at the leadership level with clear written and verbal communication.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading frontend engineering teams in a management or senior technical lead capacity.
  • Hands-on expertise in React.JS, React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, Next.js, HTML5, and CSS3; demonstrated experience in frontend performance optimization and building high-scale web and mobile applications.
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Playwright, Jest, Cypress, Detox), CI/CD (GitLab, GitHub Actions), accessibility (WCAG), and full web and mobile release management (App Store, Google Play); familiarity with DORA metrics, Core Web Vitals, and engineering KPI frameworks.
  • Past experience of transitioning from existing legacy framework(Angular.JS) to a modern React.JS
  • Familiarity with low-code platforms (OutSystems), APM/observability tools (New Relic, Datadog).
  • Passion for intuitive, accessible, and high-quality user interface and design concepts.
  • Proven ability to lead legacy-to-modern modernization programs while maintaining business continuity and taking ownership for outcomes.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making, collaborative problem solving, and excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with legacy .NET Web and Backend frameworks.
  • Experience with reusable design systems, Figma, Linear, Hexa, or similar engineering collaboration tools.
  • Background in data center, managed hosting, or infrastructure-adjacent technology environments where reliability, accountability, and customer impact are critical.
  • Cloud infrastructure and orchestration (AWS, Azure, or GCP, K8S and Containers).

Why DataBank
At DataBank, you will shape a modern engineering culture, make a lasting impact on product quality, and grow a high-performing team from the ground up. You will help define what great frontend engineering looks like in a world-class infrastructure company while working in a culture built on Extreme Ownership, Put People First, Be Data Centered, and Collaborate Before You Escalate. The right leader will care as much about how the team operates as what the team ships.
