Job description

We are looking for a talented Senior Shop Operations Manager to join our Manufacturing team for our CDBS (Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems) facility located at Plainfield IN.

  • 3 or more years' experience supervising/leading others.
  • Support the communication efforts for the Plainfield facility through the Formal Communication Process and consistent discipline. Serve as communications link between team(s) and organization.
  • Implement engineered material flow in different production value streams to optimize material flow while improving safety, line feeding productivity and inventory accuracy.
  • As required provide procedures, work instructions and identify and provide special environmental training in conjunction with the Environmental Representative. Ensure that individuals engaged in operations that influence the environment have the authority and access to management to fulfill the requirements of the Environmental Management System. Identify, investigate and record environmental problems as well as recommend and/or initiate problem resolution and recommend actions for continuous improvement of the EMS.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) - preferred
  • Experience working with WMS or willingness to learn WMS
  • Strong people management skills
  • Lean management background or 6S - preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, problem solving, counseling, evaluating, and training team members

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Effective Communication & Team Alignment: Ability to support the facility's communication processes, serve as the link between teams and leadership, and deliver clear written and verbal communication in a collaborative environment (bilingual English/Spanish is a plus).
  • Operational & Material Flow Expertise: Skill in implementing engineered material flow, optimizing safety, productivity, and inventory accuracy, and working with or learning Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Environmental & Compliance Leadership: Capability to create and maintain procedures, provide environmental training, investigate issues, and drive continuous improvement within the Environmental Management System.
  • Strong Leadership & People Development: Proven experience supervising or leading teams, with strong interpersonal skills in motivating, coaching, problemsolving, and developing talent, supported by a background in Lean or 6S practices.


Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate level of supervisory experience required.
