Job description

Job Description The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is seeking a dedicated Security Guard 2 to join our team. This is a full-time position with a non-fixed, variable rotation schedule, including overnights. Are you dedicated and compassionate to help others thrive. Look no further. As part of the WRC team, you'll: Perform lead worker duties for two or more Security Guard 1 positions.

Perform duties essential to the daily operation, safety, and security of the facility, including monitoring Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Genetec Security system. Uphold institutional rules of behavior on grounds, monitoring for specific implementation of policies to ensure the safety of individuals, triggers/thresholds that require immediate intervention including contact with supervisory personnel, both on-site and off-site, and emergency services personnel as warranted. Efficiently use the Genetec Security Desk application.

Operate telephone and pager system to effectively communicate with Resident Treatment Supervisors to ensure a safe environment and in the event of reportable incidents such as staff appearing to be asleep, staff not following Accountability policy checks, staff not following an individual's level of supervision, behavioral event occurring with an individual, staff on personal cell phones, staff watching videos on computers, staff reading books, or staff being involved in other non-work activities. Accurately log all observations. Read, understand, and accurately implement and follow policies and procedures and make decisions within guidelines.

Take part in training and development to ensure implementation of WRC policies which include Abuse and Incident Management, Accountability, Confidentiality of Protected Health Information, Hierarchy of Interventions, Human Rights, Levels of Supervision, Locating Missing Persons, Personal Electronic Devices, Philosophy of Service, Restraint, Restricted Access, Security/Surveillance Cameras and Digital Recording, and Suicide Watch. Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position. WRC prepares and supports individuals to live in the community of their choice.

Minimum Qualification Requirements Experience equal to three years of full-time work in law enforcement or security work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting of one year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of post high school education in law enforcement for one year of the required full-time experience to a maximum substitution of three years; OR employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the experience equal to two years of full-time work as a Security Guard 1.
