Position Purpose
The Facilities Technician (seasonal) is responsible for cleaning and maintaining bathrooms and facilities at Town-owned buildings, parks, and public beach accesses. This position requires 30 to 40 hours of work per week, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some nights
Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the Town.
  • Cleans public facilities, including beach accesses and restrooms, by sanitizing and disinfecting walls, doors, toilets, sinks, floors, and mirrors.
  • Stocks supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap at public restrooms.
  • Removes trash from public trash cans and ensures areas are kept clear of refuse.
  • Cleans beach accesses and project sites, including picking up trash, clearing debris, and maintaining grounds.
  • Provide rollback service for solid waste containers along fixed routes.
  • Assists with special events by transporting and installing special equipment and signage.
  • Directs traffic and other tasks during Town events.
  • Monitors fluid levels, cleans equipment, and reports equipment and maintenance needs.
  • Works irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications & KSA's
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job such as those listed above. Must be 18 (eighteen) years of age.
Licenses and Professional Certifications
• Valid NC Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general maintenance techniques related to assignment, cleaning products and procedures, safety requirements, equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance and repair activities, pruning and trimming techniques, grass varieties and care techniques, and cleaning materials.
Skilled in driving a vehicle, using hand and power tools, spreading grass seed, removing weeds, transporting equipment, operating cleaning equipment, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, and communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Ability to represent the Town professionally and respectfully while interacting with diverse individuals within the workplace and the community.

Working Conditions
Employee is generally exposed to outdoor conditions and may be frequently exposed to weather elements, including rain, wind, varying temperatures, etc. In addition, the employee must effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, fumes and smoke, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high workplaces, dangerous animals, extremely loud noises, hazards of working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made disasters. Employees are also subject to inside environmental conditions having the lighting, temperature, and noise of an open floor-plan office environment.
Physical Requirements
The employee must read, write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. Travel is required daily to outside sites to perform the duties described above and attend meetings, training, events, and other business activities. Work may require walking, standing, bending, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and/or moving equipment, pushing, and pulling various objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating assigned equipment, including motor vehicles. Must be able to perform medium to heavy work, exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
