Retail Store Manager

About Freedom Ag & Energy

Freedom Ag & Energy (FAE) is a farmer-owned cooperative serving communities across Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. We provide agricultural products, home and garden supplies, pet and animal health products, outdoor recreation items, and a rapidly growing energy division serving both residential and commercial customers.

Position Summary

As our Retail Store Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient daily operations of a Freedom Ag & Energy local farm supply, managed co-op, petroleum and retail service center. Drives profitability by providing leadership and direction to FAE team members in the areas of customer service, sales and merchandising, and operational excellence. Rely on extensive knowledge of retail operations and industry best-practices to accomplish goals.

Key Responsibilities

Department Focus
  • Execute a strategic retail operations plan for customer service, sales and volume building
  • Manage showroom merchandising, ensure adequate merchandise
  • Direct daily operations optimizing resources to achieve profitability targets
  • Inventory management, budgeting and expense control
  • Customer and Product Focus
  • Promote the FAE brand and business philosophy
  • Handle escalated customer inquiries
  • Develop and maintain open lines of communication with local civic leaders,
  • Direct and perform field sales
  • Leadership
  • Lead the development of a highly effective team
  • Foster employee engagement by establishing clear performance objectives
  • Establish a staffing plan designed to meet seasonal volume and budget needs
  • Oversee the hiring process
  • Safety
  • Direct and prioritize safety initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe facility to meet OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Promote and monitor employees for safe performance.
  • Qualifications

    Required
  • Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in business management or related field. A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in agribusiness, plant science, refined fuels, livestock / pet care, or related industry.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years in a leadership role.
  • Prefer previous experience managing daily business operations.
