Job description

Our Scrum Master focuses on guiding agile teams to predictable delivery of high-quality software and outstanding customer experiences in support of program strategy, roadmap, and product development plans. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading a cross-functional development teams in leveraging agile methodology and scrum practices, promoting collaboration each sprint work cycle, maximizing performance and effectiveness. 
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as morning standups, sprint planning, sprint retrospective, and other ceremonies as needed.
  • Partner with Product Owner, Program Manager, Solutions Architect or Solution Delivery Manager to escalate challenges in the implementation of agile practices to expedite process correction, creating strategies that resonate with the Program and clients culture. 
  • Act as a coach, supporting the product manager and development teams, providing education where needed aligned with agile best practice, supporting product planning and coordination of new workflows, continually engaged, and focused on improving team agile/scrum maturity. 
  • Analyze the impact of new solutions on existing workflows and provide recommendations on potential operational and team process changes. 
  • Complete and distribute sprint work cycle and monthly status reports to the development team, product manager, program manager, and sponsors as necessary.  
  • Prepare and monitor capacity/velocity models, helping the development team in sprint work cycle planning, partnering with the product manager to maintain software/feature milestone delivery forecasts.  
  • Tracks and monitors dependencies and potential upcoming blockers through cross-team communication at a Scrum of Scrums. Coordinates efforts to address and follow up to resolution.
  • Collaborate with Solution Delivery Manager, Product Manager, and Project Manager to continually track the progress of development team members working across IT team boundaries, providing support working through dependencies by fostering communication, collaboration, and coordination.  
  • Help the development team perform seamlessly in aligning with the clients  IT governance structure and standards. 
  • In coordination with the Product Owner, monitor the development and execution of test plans and testing practices adopted by teams to ensure compliance with program testing strategy and quickly identify and address areas of risk. 
  • Explore diverse perspectives and consistently behave sensitively toward differences in cultural norms, expectations, and ways of communicating. Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or work styles. 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Five or more years of proven experience working with software development teams running agile projects using scrum techniques with familiarity of SAFe or other scaling frameworks. 
  • Proven ability to influence and navigate ongoing agile transformation while fostering continuous improvement is paramount; experience working within the insurance industry is a plus. 
  • Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in business management, information technology, or a related field is preferred. Certified Scrum Master through scrum.org, or equivalent. 

Key Responsibilities:

•          Lead cross functional teams using Scrum/SAFe practices.

•          Facilitate agile ceremonies: stand ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives.

•          Partner with Product Owner/Program Manager to remove impediments and improve delivery.

•          Coach teams on agile principles, driving continuous improvement and maturity.

•          Track velocity, dependencies, and sprint progress; report to stakeholders.

•          Ensure alignment with IT governance, testing standards, and cross team collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience:

•          5+ years leading agile software development teams.

•          Strong knowledge of Scrum, SAFe, agile transformation.

•          Proven ability to drive collaboration, resolve blockers, and enhance delivery efficiency.

•          Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field preferred.

•          Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent.

•          Insurance/enterprise industry experience a plus.
