This hands-on internship blends back-end and front-end development with scripting, automation, and cross-functional collaboration - providing real-world experience across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities include:
Application Development
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using C# .NET, following established architectural patterns and coding standards.
- Build and enhance interactive, user-facing web applications using modern frameworks and libraries such as React, MVC, and related technologies.
- Develop ad-hoc scripts and utilities to support business operations and streamline internal workflows using Python, Go, PowerShell, or other appropriate languages.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Collaborate with fellow developers, IT professionals, and end users to design, build, and integrate both homegrown and commercial applications.
- Coordinate internal customer requirements, architect programmatic solutions, execute thorough testing, and produce clear documentation of completed work.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously learn and present new techniques at Communities of Practice sessions to IT staff.
- Evaluate and recommend open-source tools, libraries, and other add-ins that can accelerate development timelines and improve code quality.
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills with a desire to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience or academic coursework in the following:
- C# / .NET
- React
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON
- MVC architecture
- SOAP and REST APIs
- SQL Server
- Visual Studio
- Microsoft Azure (Portal, DevOps)
- GitHub
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Active Directory concepts including authentication, authorization, and identity management.
- Familiarity with Power BI for data visualization and business intelligence reporting.
- Exposure to ASP.NET Core Web APIs and modern, cross-platform API development.
- Knowledge of Azure Functions and API Management (APIM).
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system design.
- Passion for continuous learning and advancing best practices in software engineering.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with high visibility and accountability.
In this role, we expect people to be willing or able to solve problems using modern tools:
- You are expected to take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
- Many engineers in these roles build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
- We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.
