Concord Community SchoolsJob DescriptionJob Title: Grounds Tech Position Type: Classified Reports To: Director and Assistant Director of Facilities

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director and Director of Facilities, the purpose of the position is to perform corrective and scheduled maintenance in various craft disciplines as well as outside grounds work. Work may involve the use of diverse maintenance skills and knowledge depending on the specific assignment to be performed. Performs related work as directed.

POSITION PURPOSE: Maintain and improve the outdoor spaces of the school, ensuring they are clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing for the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

1. Read field layout for accuracy of IHSAA field guidelines

2. Working with M2 to prioritize day to day workload based on the weather conditions

3. Maintain irrigation system schedules and adjust as needed

4. Startup, Maintaining, and winterization of blockhouses and irrigation systems

5. Ensure seasonal supplies are in stock for maintenance and repairs of equipment

6. Grounds work: mowing, trimming, laying mulch, and leaf clean up.

7. Prioritizing Painting athletic fields for in-season sports.

8. Snow plowing and salt spreading on sidewalks and parking lots

9. Moving of tables, chairs, furniture, etc.

10. Ability to use a computer for maintenance work order system, email, and file sharing.

11. Ability to operate various machinery and power tools.

12. Perform routine maintenance on mowers and other power equipment.

13. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical procedures, governmental regulations, field diagrams, and building blueprints.

14. Keeping the grounds free from trash

15. Setup and take down of nets for various sports, i.e. tennis, baseball, softball, track and field.

16. Keeping grounds bay neat, clean, and organized

17. Maintain Parking lots, filling potholes, and painting new lines

18. Use of heavy machinery, including rollers, tractors, bobcats, etc.

19. Removing rust on sidewalks, bleachers, and buildings

20. Indoor and outdoor bleacher repair

21. Edging of sidewalks

22. Manage weed growth by pulling weeds and spraying herbicides(Registered technician license)

23. Loading and unloading trailers

24. Basic electrical and plumbing skills.

25. Communicate with building leads on event setups and teardowns

26. Trade on call phone with Maintenance

27. Prioritize work orders through the work order system.

28. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High School diploma or G.E.D.

2. Ability to plan and organize.

3. Practical problem solving skills and decision making.

4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

5. Knowledge of and experience with maintenance and operation of buildings is preferred.

6. Understanding of Google platform.
