The Territory Safety Manager - Fabrication Safety provides field leadership and strategic safety support to leaders and associates across Ferguson Business Groups within their designated territory, reporting directly to the Senior Safety Manager.
This role is responsible for leading and advancing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance with a primary focus on design/process review of fabrication operations, machinery safety, and industrial risk reduction.
Location and Travel:
This role is open to remote work across the United States or out of Ferguson's corporate offices in Newport News, VA, according to company policy. Travel across the US of up to 50% is required.
Responsibilities:
  • Effectively partner and lead site and regional leaders in safety initiatives, holding leaders accountable for maintaining established standards, also providing influence and guidance on all matters related to health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Serve as the subject matter authority for fabrication, welding, cutting, machining, and heavy industrial equipment safety programs across assigned facilities.
  • Provide strong leadership to drive a culture of safety.
  • Implement HSE training, programs, and processes in partnership with site and regional leaders.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for fabrication processes including but not limited to automated equipment, robotics, conveyors, presses, saws, CNC machinery, and material handling systems.
  • Train new associates in the organization's safe operating procedures and HSE standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring OSHA compliance, HSE inspections, and required HSE reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards related to machine guarding, welding and cutting, electrical safety, confined space, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and powered industrial trucks.
  • Lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance initiatives for fabrication equipment and ensure proper hazardous energy control procedures are developed, validated, and consistently followed.
  • Perform routine audits and inspections of fabrication shops, machine operations, welding areas, compressed gas storage, ventilation systems, and industrial work environments to identify and correct hazards.
  • Assist locations to document all HSE incidents and perform accident investigations, following established reporting and recording requirements.
  • Compile data on location incidents rates, restricted duty, and lost time per SOP and communicate effectively with senior leadership on action plans to address issues.
  • Work with worker's comp carrier as needed to ensure cases are managed to completion.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established HSE standards and adhere to all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to site and regional leadership by participating in design reviews and operational planning meetings to ensure safe fabrication workflows, guarding requirements, and employee protection measures are incorporated into facility operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HSE specific experience.
  • Work experience leading safety efforts in a fabrication multi-site environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations including 29 CFR 1910 standards related to machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), welding and cutting, electrical safety, respiratory protection, hazard communication, and powered industrial trucks.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI, NFPA, and applicable industrial safety standards related to fabrication equipment and machinery operations.
  • Experience working with cranes, hoists, rigging operations, conveyors, automated systems, CNC equipment, and fabrication machinery preferred.
  • CSP or another recognized credential is a plus.
  • Must have valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to create and train using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and/or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Possess hazard recognition skills to identify risk and to implement corrective action plans.
  • Coach, mentor, and correct unsafe behavior in real time.
  • Ability to work in non-controlled environmental conditions.
  • Ability to travel to multiple facilities and support regional safety initiatives as required.
  • Certification in OSHA safety procedures preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional presentation and written skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to get along with individuals professionally and confidently at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal direction.

$8,233.34 - $13,175.00
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
