Job description

From ensuring product quality and safety to keeping our packaging lines running smoothly, your work directly impacts the coffee our customers enjoy every day.

What You Will Do:

  • As a Production Technician for grinding and packaging, you will process coffee as the production schedule demands.

  • Ensures that the assigned workstation operates within the workplace safety and food safety standards set by Caribou Coffee and oversight regulatory agencies.

  • Ensures product quality by completing all Quality Control Point monitoring tasks according to established procedures for the assigned workstation. Completes and submits all quality assurance monitoring tasks for the assigned operating workstation.

  • Completes and submits all production records required for the assigned operating workstation.

  • Works cooperatively to ensure workplace safety and product quality while meeting production goals for the assigned workstation.

  • Makes every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising team safety or product quality.

  • Communicates issues pertinent to production performance, quality, or workplace safety directly to the Roastery Team Lead, Production Supervisor, or Production Manager.

  • Communicates issues concerning equipment faults or failures directly to the Engineering Department for immediate repair or future preventive maintenance.

  • Assigns, trains, and monitors daily Production Team Member performance and task completion for the assigned workstation.

  • Assigns, trains, and monitors daily Temporary Worker performance and task completion for the assigned workstation.

  • Maintains established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for the assigned workstation and the facility.

  • Participates in all workstation development opportunities to increase technical abilities and strengthen craft-level skills.

  • Demonstrates a full understanding of all Food Safety and related programs, such asbut not limited to GMPs, SSOPs, and Adverse Health Policy.

  • Demonstrates a full understanding of all Workplace Safety policies and Standard Work Procedures.

  • Participates in the training of new Team Members to facilitate their success as new Team Members.

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays

Who You Are:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • At least 1 year of production experience as a machine technician/operator.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of formal training in the coffee industry

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, in addition to the following:

  • Able to work 8 hour shifts while standing, lifting, bending, and reaching

  • Must be able to work on your feet over 9 straight hours

  • Able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive, and lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds 20% of the shift

  • Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during shift

  • Must be able to handle/move up to 750 pound bins on casters

The environmental exposures for this position are:

  • Airborne particles, fumes, high places, moving parts, muscular strain, noise, odors, high temperatures

The target hourly range for this position is $18-24/hr. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
