Job Description:
Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical and Health Sciences
University of Florida's College of Medicine is launching a new Master's of Science program in Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical and Health Sciences (AIBHS). This new program, the first of its kind in the southeast and one of the first nationwide, will train the healthcare and biomedical sciences workforce to develop and implement trustworthy artificial intelligence technologies. AIBHS equip students with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to leverage AI's potential in translational biomedical applications and clinical care, including diagnostics, therapeutics, personalized medicine, and healthcare management. Students learn to design and implement various trustworthy AI architectures in domains such as generative AI, large language models, neural networks, and imaging as well as to integrate various types of data to advance research and improve clinical decision making. As a result, AIBHS graduates will be uniquely positioned to rapidly accelerate translational biomedical research, precision medicine, health management, processes, and delivery, and to improve patient care.

At the University of Florida (UF), Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role in advancing cutting-edge research and innovative solutions across various fields and all colleges. With a dedicated AI initiative, UF is committed to integrating AI across its curriculum, enabling students and faculty to engage deeply with AI tools and techniques. The university boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including HiPerGator, the fastest supercomputer in academia, soon to be replaced by an even more advanced version using Nvidia technology not yet on the market. In addition, UF offers myriad AI-centric laboratories and research centers, where cross-disciplinary teams collaborate on projects ranging from healthcare and agriculture to engineering and business.
The Position
This is a 12-month tenure tracked teaching and research position. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. Duties include teaching graduate courses in biomedical and health related AI, such as Fundamentals of AI in Medicine and Clinical AI Design Studio courses, as well as graduate student mentoring. The successful candidate will also establish and maintain an energetic, independent research program utilizing AI in medicine.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in AI and its applications in medicine or the biomedical sciences, demonstrated teaching expertise, and evidence of a developing publishing and research portfolio.
Expected Salary:
Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications:

Preferred:
  • Healthcare domain experience and/or knowledge
  • Formal training in clinical care or the biomedical sciences
  • Teaching experience across various modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, online
  • Experience teaching various student populations
  • Documented evidence of productivity, based on publications in appropriate peer reviewed journals and successful competition for external funding

Concentration: Candidate with expertise in research and teaching in reinforcement learning, digital twins, generative AI, AI for drug development, and computation and spatial biology are encouraged to apply.
Experience in teaching and innovative training programs in AI and dedicated to leading this program and courses and newly formed PhD program.
