Job description

Summary
This National Guard position is for a HELICOPTER PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2929000and is part of the FL AASF 1, National Guard.

Duties
Help
As a HELICOPTER PILOT, GS-2181-12, you will Pilot a variety of on one or more of the following helicopters: Attack Helicopter (AH-64); Cargo Helicopter (CH-47); Utility Helicopter (UH-60 series), (LUH-72 series) and others when assigned. Routinely operates with short takeoffs and landing capability, in all types of weather, day, and night over a variety of terrains and open bodies of water. Flights are made using landing facilities ranging from modern, improved airport with paved runways and navigational aids to unimproved strips of remote, isolated villages. This position will be required to make reconnaissance and observation flights. Makes test flights and checks all systems in connection with maintenance actions and takes necessary action to correct malfunctions. Participates in all-weather search and rescue operations as required utilizing a thorough knowledge of the terrain features of the geographical area. Conducts flight checks following repairs, maintenance, or installation of approved aircraft system modifications. Responsible for transportation of cargo and transporting passengers, among a variety of familiar destinations

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Enrollment in Direct Deposit is mandatory

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.
Military Grades: Warrant Officer- CW2 thru CW4
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:GS12 Must have at least 2-years' of specialized experience in civilian aviation or military service aviation programs; with at least two years specialized competencies in operating the CH47, HH 60 and UH 72 rotary wing military aircraft, as well as mission planning, and mission preparation; experience in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings; experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments; experience in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance.
