Job Summary: The infusion nurse acts as a resource to referral sources and community home health agencies on issues related to infusion therapies provided to patients by the franchise location. The staff nurse, as permitted by state licensure regulations, may also provide direct patient care to infusion therapy patients, and is responsible to assess actual and potential patient problems, as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in coordination with the registered pharmacist. The staff / infusion nurse has an active patient education role and interacts extensively with the pharmacy staff to plan and implement patient scheduling, deliveries, and clinical assessment. The infusion nurse may have the expanded clinical practice of inserting PICC lines. Additional qualifications must be satisfied to perform this invasive procedure. This position reports to the Nurse Manager.
Qualifications
• Required: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
• Required: A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience
• Required: a minimum of one (1) year experience in acute care or alternate site IV therapy
• Required: Excellent interactive skills with employees, physicians, referral sources, and consumers
• Required: CPR
• Preferred: IV certification (i.e., CRNI) or other infusion-related certification

* Task: Will require use of latex products unless non latex is provided for known sensitivities.
**Example: Clean and sterile gloves; latex injection ports.
*Task: May require moderate to extensive driving.
**Example: Patient visits in outlying areas.
Essential Job Functions
• Perform infusion nursing related procedures within patient homes and ambulatory infusion center environments in compliance with regulatory and industry standards and organizational policies and procedures
• Provide education and training to patients and caregivers, ensuring understanding of therapy, equipment use, and infection prevention practices.
• Document patient care, clinical interventions, and communications in a timely and accurate manner in task management system, CareTend, or other required systems.
• Report adverse events, medication errors, or infection control concerns promptly, and participate in performance improvement activities.
