Summary
You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the COMMUNICATION STRATEGY AND OPERATIONS of MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS COMMAND.

  • You will be responsible for conducting public affairs functions for the organization, ensuring public affairs activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
  • You will be responsible for managing and executing the strategic communication plans, talking points, command messages and leading, as required, various cross-functional and joint communications teams tasked to directly support the command.
  • You will be responsible for serving as the social media manager and webmaster.
  • You will be responsible for representing the organization regarding assigned portion of the communications program with a variety of councils, boards, working groups, and panels inside and outside of the command.
  • You will be responsible for responding to information requests on assigned programs from the news media, special groups, and/or public; local, state, and federal elected officials; special interest groups, community, and civic organizations.
  • You will be responsible for performing special assignments and participating in special projects and initiatives.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel to hostile environments.
  • This position requires the successful completion of the Public Affairs Communication and Strategy Qualification (PACS-Q) Course.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying public affairs principles and methods to promote and maintain effective relationships with internal and external audiences; planning and executing communication strategies, supporting media relations and community engagement efforts, preparing written products and briefing materials, coordinating public affairs activities, and producing multimedia content
