Job description

Overview
We are designing the grid of the future!
As a Principal Conventional Thermal Generation Engineer at EPE, you will lead the design and integration of electrical systems for conventional thermal assets-gas turbines, reciprocating (RICE) engine-generator sets, and their balance of plant (BOP). You'll deliver high-quality consulting services for simple/combined-cycle, cogeneration (CHP), and reciprocating engine plants while advancing EPE's internal knowledge base and best practices.
Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:
  • Develop AC Single Line Diagram (SLD), HV - MV design, grounding schemes; HV - MV power distribution design.
  • Selecting and specifying appropriate electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and instrumentation, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee installation, FAT/SAT, start-up, and troubleshooting of electrical systems for turbine and engine plants.
  • Ensuring that all electrical work complies with relevant safety regulations and industry standards, such as those from the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Collaborating with mechanical, control, and other engineers to ensure the smooth integration of electrical systems with other plant components.
  • Making sure to complete assigned projects on time while adhering to project quality and budget objectives.

Qualifications
Bring your passion, here's what's needed:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (power systems focus) or Mechanical Engineering. Working knowledge of mechanical/controls aspects of turbines and RICE gensets is a plus
  • Professional Engineering License is required
  • 7+ years of electrical design experience for gas turbine/cogeneration/reciprocating engine power plants.
  • 7+ years with electrical systems in power generation or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with major OEMs (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Solar Turbines; Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, MAN).
  • Experience with simple-cycle, combined-cycle, CHP, and reciprocating engine configurations.
