What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Variant Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Variant Analyst, you need a background in genetics or bioinformatics, strong analytical skills, and experience interpreting genetic variant data, usually supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with genomic analysis tools (such as GATK, VEP, or IGV), data visualization platforms, and variant databases is crucial, along with knowledge of HIPAA compliance for handling sensitive data remotely. A Remote Variant Analyst is a professional who works from a remote location to analyze genetic variants, often using bioinformatics tools and databases. Their main responsibilities include interpreting genetic data, identifying mutations, and assessing their potential impact on health or disease. They collaborate with geneticists, clinicians, and research teams to provide insights that support diagnostics, research, or personalized medicine. How does a Remote Variant Analyst typically collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams when working off-site?

As a Remote Variant Analyst, you’ll frequently interact with laboratory scientists and clinical geneticists via digital communication tools such as secure email, video conferencing, and laboratory information management systems. Although you may not be physically present in the lab, you will participate in regular virtual meetings to discuss complex genetic findings, clarify sample data, and review variant interpretations. Effective communication skills and proactive coordination are key, as you often need to ensure timely and accurate reporting while maintaining strong professional relationships with on-site team members.

Job description

Senior Marketing Engineer (Web & Growth)
Department: Marketing
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Remote USA - In Tandem
Compensation: $125,000 - $155,000 / year
Description
At In Tandem, we build technology that helps families manage everyday routines and navigate life's biggest transitions. Through our four brands-OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator-we help families stay organized, communicate well, and foster healthy childhoods.
We believe technology should strengthen relationships and make daily coordination less complicated. Everything we create is designed to lighten the mental load, reduce conflict, and support families through big and small moments.
If you want your work to make a real difference in the daily lives of parents and kids, In Tandem is the place where your impact will truly matter.
Our marketing web properties (across OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, and FamilyWall) reach millions across the globe. These properties are a meaningful part of how we grow: attracting new parents, converting visits to subscriptions, and representing our brands to the world. We're ready to invest in making them great.
As our Senior Marketing Engineer, you'll be the technical owner of that investment. Working at the intersection of Marketing, Engineering, and Data and you'll build the systems and workflows that enable Marketing move with speed and confidence. Your work will have a direct line to campaign performance, subscriber growth, and the quality of the experience we put in front of families every day.
What you will accomplish:
  • Build and own our web analytics and tag management infrastructure. Implement Segment events, conversion pixels, and ad partner tags, and maintain the GTM foundation to add tracking and measurement without traditional engineering dependencies.
  • Build and ship landing pages and campaign assets-develop and deploy pages that support paid and organic campaigns, and build the component systems that make future work faster.
  • Drive CRO and experimentation-in partnership with our Director of Growth Marketing, set up and run A/B tests across our properties to improve conversion rates, and partner with Marketing to turn results into better experiences.
  • Maintain the technical health of our web properties-own technical SEO, site performance, structured data, and Core Web Vitals across all three brands so our properties are always well-positioned to perform.
  • Evolve our CMS and publishing infrastructure-own the CMS platforms across our three brands and build the infrastructure that makes Marketing genuinely self-sufficient on the web: component libraries, templates, and publishing workflows that enable the team to build, ship, and iterate without an engineering ticket. This means evaluating current stacks, identifying gaps, and making the case for investment when the platform is holding us back.
  • Shape the platform roadmap-bring a technical point of view to how we invest in our web properties over time, including platform modernization and the tools that will help Marketing move even faster in the future.
  • Own ad operations across all properties-serve as the reliable, responsive point of contact for ad partner requests, including ads.txt, script tags, Prebid config, and GAM surface management. Ad revenue depends on this working well, and you'll make sure it does.

Who you are:
You bring a builder's mindset to marketing. You've owned web properties end-to-end-building, shipping, and improving-and you take pride in work that has a direct line to business outcomes. You're energized when a campaign goes live on time, when an experiment moves conversion, or when you implement a new tool that empowers people to vibe code their own solutions
You're as comfortable talking to a CMO about instrumentation strategy as you are debugging a tag implementation. You communicate in plain language, bring your own point of view on priorities, and treat the people you work with as partners.
You're a self-directed operator who thrives with ownership. You don't need someone to check your code to know it's right-you've built that rigor for yourself. And you're genuinely motivated by work that matters: the families who use these products are counting on them during real moments in their lives.
You're already using AI and automation tooling to work faster - not as a curiosity, but as a real part of how your build. You think about what it would take for Marketing to do the same: sketch an immersive landing page, generate a variant, ship it, and read performance without waiting on anyone.
What you bring:
  • 7+ years building and maintaining marketing websites professionally-WordPress and/or Drupal experience required. Multi-brand or multi-property experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Tag Manager and at least one CDP (Segment, mParticle, or similar)
  • JavaScript proficiency sufficient to build components, debug integrations, and write custom GTM tags
  • Experience with AI-assisted tooling in the marketing context: web development, analytics, and just-in-time problem solving to address challenges across a diverse landscape of tools, data, and tech
  • Hands-on A/B testing experience with Optimizely, VWO, LaunchDarkly, or equivalent
  • Technical SEO fundamentals-you know what a sitemap is, why schema markup matters, and how to read a crawl report
  • Clear, confident communication with non-technical stakeholders; you translate between Marketing's goals and technical execution without being asked
  • Bonus: PHP familiarity, hands-on experience with a headless or composable CMS (Contentful, Sanity, Storyblok)
