• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to determine the specific needs of elderly clients, ensuring individualized care plans are developed and implemented.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions addressing emotional issues commonly faced by seniors, including grief, identity changes, and coping strategies during life transitions.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians and social workers, to create holistic care plans that enhance the quality of life for geriatric residents.
• Educate family members and the clinic staff on best practices and resources that promote the mental and emotional well-being of elderly clients.
• Facilitate grief counseling for individuals and families experiencing loss, guiding them through their emotional journeys with sensitivity and compassion.
• Implement and oversee cognitive stimulation programs designed to enhance mental acuity and overall wellness in elderly patients.

This role focuses specifically on elderly individuals facing various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and other age-related issues. As a mental health counselor in our Geriatric Care Clinic, you will engage with clients who often experience significant life changes such as retirement, loss of loved ones, and health issues. Your expertise will empower them to navigate these transitions with resilience and support.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• Valid certification as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) is required to practice in Florida.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or related mental health support is essential.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based practices for geriatric mental health.

This position offers an annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
