Litigation Associate

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Litigation Associate to join our litigation team. The Litigation Associate will manage a varied caseload, provide strong litigation support from initial pleadings through trial, and work closely with partners and clients to achieve favorable outcomes. The ideal candidate has proven litigation experience and the ability to handle complex legal issues efficiently; experience or interest in healthcare-related matters is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an active litigation caseload including drafting complaints, answers, motions, and briefs
  • Conduct factual and legal research and prepare persuasive memoranda and court filings
  • Handle all phases of discovery, including preparing and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and depositions
  • Prepare witnesses, take and defend depositions, and support trial preparation and courtroom proceedings
  • Advise and communicate with clients on strategy, case status, risks, and settlement options
  • Develop case strategy in coordination with partners, including motion practice, evidentiary strategy, and trial plans
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, delegating tasks and reviewing work product
  • Manage deadlines, docketing, and billing to meet firm productivity and quality standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on matters implicating regulatory or compliance issues, particularly when healthcare issues are involved
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, and thought leadership

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing
  • 2+ years of litigation experience at a law firm or in-house litigation practice (associates with a range of experience will be considered)
  • Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents and conducting depositions
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and document review preferred
  • Prior exposure to healthcare matters (e.g., regulatory compliance, False Claims Act, Stark/Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, medical malpractice) is highly desirable but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to client service and professional ethics
  • Willingness to travel to court, depositions, and client sites as needed
