Job description

Job Title: SAP BASIS Specialist
Work Location: 100% Remote (Sacramento, CA) (Contractor must work within the United States)
Work Schedule: Available for meetings between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pacific Time; after-hours/on-call support as required
Job Summary:
SMUD is seeking a highly experienced SAP BASIS Specialist contractor to provide advanced technical support, SAP administration, and architecture design for enterprise SAP environments. The resource will support platforms including ECC, CRM, BW, BusinessObjects (BOBJ), Process Orchestration (PO), Web Dispatcher, Fiori, C/4 HANA, SAP BTP/CPI, SuccessFactors, and related SAP technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational support and administration for the SAP ecosystem.

  • Lead SAP BASIS administration for enterprise applications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve SAP system issues, outages, and performance problems.

  • Perform SAP installations, upgrades, patching, system refreshes, backups, and restorations.

  • Support OS, database, application, and client tool migrations.

  • Manage SAP environments including configuration, monitoring, batch jobs, and automation.

  • Perform system sizing, capacity planning, and availability management.

  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.

  • Maintain SAP technical documentation, procedures, and system inventories.

  • Coordinate with application, security, network, and infrastructure teams.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of progressive SAP BASIS administration experience in enterprise environments.

  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and support.

  • Experience with:

  • SAP ECC6, S/4HANA, BW/BI, CRM, BOBJ, PO, BPC

  • HANA, C/4 HANA, SAP BTP, CPI

  • SuccessFactors, Cloud Connector, Fiori/Gateway, Web Dispatcher

  • AIX, UNIX, Linux, Windows environments

  • DB2 and MS SQL databases

  • Experience with SAP Solution Manager and SAP Cloud ALM.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • SAP BASIS support experience for ABAP and JAVA systems.

  • Experience with SAP system refresh processes using native SAP tools, LAMA, or SAP PCA.

  • NetWeaver Java administration experience (PO, ADS, Web Dispatcher, SLD).

  • Knowledge of SAP change management (CTS+, non-ABAP, and cloud solutions).

  • Experience supporting DB2/AIX and RHEL environments.
