Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the Product Manager is responsible for driving product vision and strategy, and the management of product lifecycles from ideation through to discontinuation. The Product Manager is responsible for delivering measurable financial and operational results that align with company objectives and ensuring sustained profitability and positive returns to shareholders. This role is onsite in Hebron KY, Mayodan NC or Prescott AZ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary responsibility for the management of specific Ruger product lines.

  • Ongoing development and implementation of product strategy that aligns with the company strategic vision and objectives and ensures sustained profitability and positive returns to shareholders.

  • Oversight of their product lines to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual company financial plans are met and long-term growth targets are achieved.

    • Working with key stakeholders, complete annual forecasts detailing expected volumes, revenue, and margins/profits for each product line.

  • Complete detailed analysis and provide comprehensive briefings and guidance to the Executive Team on the relevant markets, including company and competitor performance, market trends and recommendations on future products and sales strategies, including opportunities for product innovation or differentiation.

    • Deliver New Product Development briefings to the Executive Team for approval of significant new products or product lines.

  • Manage the product lifecycle by leading cross-functional teams in the ideation, design, development, and delivery of new products and the management of existing products, including continuous improvement or discontinuation.

    • Acts as the 'Voice of the Customer'.

    • Work closely with Engineering Teams on product design, development, improvement, quality, testing and delivery.

    • Work closely with Project Management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the requested product specification and quality standards.

    • Work closely with the Marketing Team to develop marketing strategies for new product launches, as well as sustainment campaigns for existing products/product lines.

    • Work closely with Operations Teams to ensure line capacities are optimized and profitability is maximized on lines that have constrained capacity.

    • Work closely with Financial Teams to ensure product line financial metrics are achieved.

    • Work closely with the Legal Department to ensure compliance with company policies including relating to Patents, Trademarks, and external marketing/communications.

  • Working in alignment with the Senior Leadership Team, foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, quality and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing or a related field (preferred) or equivalent additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the shooting, hunting or outdoors industry (required).

  • Financial business acumen (required).

  • Ability to organize and analyze large amounts of data in a logical and detailed manner (required).

  • Strong communication proficiency (required).

  • Understanding of ATF/FFL/ITAR/EAR compliance (required).

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint (required).

  • Ability to understand blueprints (preferred).

  • Ability to travel up to 25% (required).
