PAY SCALE: $25.00 - $37.00 per hour, based on education and experience
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Instruction for Adult English language classes (ESOL).
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Seeking adult education long-term per diem substitute to teach adult beginner English language class to diverse English language learners;
Classes are held online Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Position begins on August 10 with an anticipated end date of October 30.
  • Provide differentiated instruction for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program
  • Plan and execute English lessons in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar to adult students at all English proficiency levels
  • Integrate career and education planning into lesson plans, supporting students in achieving their short and long-term goals
  • Establish and maintain appropriate standards for behavior and regular attendance to achieve a functional learning atmosphere
  • Prepare and implement assessments, including state mandated pre and post-tests, as well as program-specific formative and summative assessments
  • Request student textbooks, supplies, materials and equipment necessary for the implementation of the program
  • Work with the CWD support staff in meeting the admissions, instructional and workforce benchmarks to remain in compliance with NYSED regulations
  • Participate in recruitment and enrollment efforts to attract and refer students for the program
  • Conduct periodic employment tracking for exited students
  • Report and document student attendance and academic progress
  • Work with support staff in meeting the instructional and workforce expectations for each adult student enrolled the program and to remain within the standards of the New York State Education Department
  • Maintains all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization
  • Other duties as determined by the Director of BOCES 2 CWD
  • Attend 14 hours of NYSED approved professional development per year
  • Report directly to the Director of BOCES 2 CWD
  • Classes will be held at WEMOCO Campus, 3589 Big Ridge Road Spencerport NY 14559

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in education OR commensurate experience in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience
  • Experience working with English language learners
  • Experience teaching online classes remotely
  • Excellent instructional and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with professional soft skills, ability to communicate clearly with diverse populations, work independently and as a team member.
  • Willingness to acquire Adult Education Certification

Preferred
  • NYS K-12 or Adult Education Certification
  • Experience working with adult students
