Job description

Job Title: Assistant Director, Data Systems & Analytics Location: Remote Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 62372 Department This position is within FSU's Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). This position is a member of the Information Services Report team within the Division of University Advancement. The Division of University Advancement supports Florida State University's mission of teaching, scholarship and public service through our mission of enhancing the university's leadership, reputation and private financial support in academics, research, service and athletics.

Responsibilities Collaborating with advancement personnel, fulfilling data and report requests, and providing end‐user support for enterprise reporting software. Developing ad‐hoc queries and reports, creating data models and visualizations, and participating in testing and validation efforts. Reviewing technical solution designs, using a ticket system to track issues, and participating in committees on data migration.

Strategic direction, development, and maintenance of the Division of University Advancement's data architecture and business intelligence ecosystem. Overseeing the division's enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake) and comprehensive reporting strategy, primarily utilizing Power BI and Salesforce CRM analytics tools. Managing the data engineering and analytics team, directing design of robust ETL/ELT pipelines (via Boomi and Python) to ensure data integrity, high‐performance reporting, and actionable insights.

Directing architecture, maintenance, and optimization of the division's enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake); overseeing design of data models, schemas, and storage solutions. Consulting with the reporting team, departmental stakeholders, and ITS peers to facilitate growth and adaptation for new requests and ideas. Leading strategy and execution of data integration and ETL processes, ensuring reliability and scalability of pipelines connecting Salesforce, the data warehouse, and external sources.

Providing technical leadership and mentorship to the reporting and analytics teams; directing day‐to‐day operations and ensuring adherence to coding standards, documentation practices, and University data governance policies. Managing departmental budget for analytics software and licensing; using the ticketing system to track data quality issues and develop long‐term solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four years' experience related to technical services or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.) Preferred Qualifications Experience and work history with Snowflake, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft 365 cloud products, including Power BI and Fabric. Experience using Python, Boomi, and other tools to extract, transform, and load data between systems. Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, mentoring staff, or leading data engineering and analytics initiatives, including coordinating work across teams and translating business needs into scalable data solutions.

Experience designing and supporting enterprise‐scale data platforms and analytics solutions and comfortable working across technical and non‐technical stakeholders. Typical Day Mix of strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration. Reviewing data architecture or ETL pipelines, advising on reporting or analytics solutions, and meeting with advancement partners to understand emerging needs. Mentoring team members, coordinating priorities across data engineering and reporting efforts, addressing data quality or performance issues, and collaborating with ITS peers and vendors.

First 60-90 Days Focus on learning the Division of University Advancement's data ecosystem, reporting environment and key business processes, while building strong working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and ITS partners.
