The Cross Functional Optimisation (MEX) unit drives optimisation of Energy Management processes across business units and geographies, supporting Statkraft's commercial strategy. MEX creates value by improving core processes and ensuring Energy Management evolves in line with market and digital developments.

MEX  delivers business Services such as commercial analysis, citizen development, and co-development, supporting optimisation and automated flexibility trading, intermittent production forecasting, and market access for 3rdparty customers. MEX also holds business capability ownership for digital solutions in Energy Management, leading daily collaboration between business area Markets and our IT department while ensuring digitalisation efforts align with strategic objectives and value creation.

MEXD (Distributed Energy Process Optimization team) owns and drives digital business capabilities for Energy Management across the asset value chain, including platforms for distributed energy resources (e.g., wind, solar, BESS, Hydrogen, eBoilers etc) and Virtual Power Plants. 

Origination and Energy Management work closely together, combining commercial origination expertise with 24/7 optimisation capabilities to deliver strong customer outcomes across the full deal lifecycle.

Spain is a core growth market for Statkraft, combining large-scale renewable generation and storage with an integrated Markets and Origination platform. Today, Statkraft operates around 0.7 GW of own assets in Spain, manages >2 GW of third-party assets, and has a development pipeline of >3 GW across renewables and BESS.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Implementation Manager who will help bridge the gap between technical DER integration, regulatory compliance, and market-driven energy trading. Thereby, you will play a vital role in managing the Virtual Power Plant portfolio of Statkraft.  Your work will be in the centre of these activities and you will be given responsibility from day one. As part of MEXD, you will:

  • Support Technology teams in the deployment and integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into centralized platforms, including API connectivity, cloud infrastructure, control systems, SCADA, and secure communication channels with energy assets
  • Coordinate and ensure successful system integration, testing, and validation activities, guaranteeing reliable asset connectivity and proper functioning of trading logic, including merit order execution
  • Optimize the implementation and operational lifecycle of the VPP to support portfolio growth and geographical extension, maintain a cost-efficient setup, and ensure high end-customer satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, market rules, and operational standards across relevant energy markets
  • Oversee and execute the implementation of new business processes, ensure smooth day-to-day operation of energy systems/platforms and troubleshoot issues (data gaps, connectivity, performance and usage issues)
  • Coordinate business testing, validation, and acceptance of vendor-delivered solutions and system enhancements
  • Monitor and analyse VPP performance metrics, including connection health and operational reliability, data quality and prepare performance reporting and operational insights
Qualifications

Your profile:

  • University degree in engineering, natural sciences or business
  • Experience in energy business / Virtual Power Plant
  • 3-5 years of experience in energy systems integration, power grid operations, or Control Systems (SCADA systems)
  • Desired hands-on experience in Networking, Knowledge of Control Systems, IT/OT Convergence
  • Strong cross team collaboration and service orientation with an ability to effectively influence decisions, direction and outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Programming skills (especially Python) are required
  • Strong process design, automation and technical skills to enable lean and automated process solutions
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish. Knowledge of Italian or French is a plus.
