Summary of Purpose
Performs clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting duties in order to accomplish the functions of the Financial Services and/or Financial Assistance & Scholarship Departments. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.
Typical Duties
This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:
1. Assists students with questions and forms, as needed; maintains student records for financial aid requirements; prepares required statements.
2. Assists in the interpretation of federal financial aid regulations and applies those in assigning students to collectors; negotiates repayment plans on delinquent accounts and prepares state and federal reports.
3. Acts as liaison representative with collectors, billing agents, and federal and state staff personnel in Financial Aid.
4. Assists in the coordination of the general ledger budget for financial aid with the individual student budgets.
5. Attends Financial Aid related meetings.
6. Works with Director of Financial Aid and Financial Aid Officers in routine matters dealing with financial aid and scholarship accounts.
7. Reconciles most federal/state grants and scholarships.
8. Interprets computer reports; prepares journal entries.
9. Utilizes college wide computer system to enter data and process reports.
10. Assists veteran students and maintains veteran records, if applicable.
11. Orders supplies and equipment with appropriate approval.
12. Operates office equipment (e.g., photocopier, telephone, computer, and any other equipment utilized by the College); cleans, maintains, and arranges for service of equipment when necessary.
13. Trains and directs college student personnel with appropriate approval.
14. Performs related tasks, as assigned.
15. Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Minimum Education and Experience
EDUCATION: An earned Associate Degree or higher in Accounting, Administrative Support Technology, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems.
-OR-
Any Associate Degree or higher with 16 college credit hours in Accounting, Business Administration (BUS 1100, BUS 2030, BUS 2530, MKT 2520, ACC 1800, ACC 1810, ACC 1820 and CIS 1050), Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in customer service.
