Job description

Passionate about helping students, solving problems, and delivering exceptional customer service? Join our team as a Testing Services Coordinator with The University of Iowa Exam Services! (100% appointment).

As a Testing Services Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting student success by delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth testing experience for students, instructors, and staff. You'll use MAUI to verify upcoming exam needs and ensure accurate exam details and settings are available in ICON. You'll also be trained to navigate systems including Honorlock, the Proctored Exams Portal (PEP), ICON, MAUI, and the Proctor App to troubleshoot issues, answer questions, and provide timely technical support. Through strong communication, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving, you'll help keep exams running efficiently from start to finish. They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Consult with instructors to identify and resolve exam-related issues by reviewing, troubleshooting, and updating exams completed at the test centers or virtually.
  • Assist with academic integrity review and documentation.
  • Resolve exam delivery issues and looks for solutions to recurring exam problems.

About the Department: University of Iowa Exam Services, a unit within University College, supports colleges and departments throughout the university to provide exam support for students in online courses, SDS accommodations and make up exams for students in on-campus courses, and non-University of Iowa exams for community members.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in a higher education setting may also serve to meet this minimum education requirement.

  • Experience (typically 6 months - 1 year) working in an educational setting

  • Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain a high standard of accuracy.

  • This position requires working independently with minimal supervision; the successful candidate must be comfortable seeking guidance or support as needed.

  • This position may require some evening hours. 

  • Exam integrity review may be required over the weekend following spring and fall final exam weeks.

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a basic proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Manage multiple concurrent projects and/or activities and effectively prioritize and allocate time and resources. 

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Ability to meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.  

    • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner and utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs.

    • Summarize and simplify technical concepts and explain those concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

    • Apply communication techniques and relationship-building skills to work with a variety of individuals and groups constructively and collaboratively. Includes excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with internal and external customers.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.  

  • Experience using Canvas. 

  • Experience developing or delivering online assessments for students. 

  • Experience using AI-driven assessment tools.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: 46,000-$50,000, with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
