Job description

Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community. The Director, Enterprise Slate CRM owns the strategy, delivery, and health of BU's Slate CRM portfolio: core platform, integrations, applicant portals, web footprint, and connected enrollment systems. This is a player-coach role. You lead and develop the existing team while staying hands-on with architecture, design, and key platform initiatives. You own Slate platform strategy, architecture, engineering, and integration, and partner with admissions and enrollment counterparts to deliver outcomes together. You also work across the broader BU ecosystem with SIS, data engineering, and Salesforce CRM teams. This position is based in Boston, MA and remote-eligible.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the Slate roadmap, prioritization, and platform health across multiple programs and use cases.
  • Provide architectural leadership across Slate data models, workflows, automations, portals, and configurations.
  • Stay hands-on with complex platform work, integrations, and high-impact initiatives.
  • Keep Slate aligned with PeopleSoft and partner with SIS, SAP, and OnBase teams to maintain a reliable enrollment ecosystem.
  • Oversee integrations with identity, marketing, analytics, finance, and data systems.
  • Maintain release discipline, platform performance, data integrity, and security.
  • Translate business needs into platform strategy, technical designs, and prioritized work.
  • Frame initiatives around measurable outcomes: conversion, speed to decision, operational efficiency, and applicant experience.
  • Use data and experimentation to drive continuous improvement across applicant journeys, portals, and the digital footprint.
  • Evaluate and pilot AI, automation, and digital experience tools where they reduce manual work and add leverage.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Slate administrators, engineers, and contributors.
  • Set clear expectations on delivery, quality, documentation, and ownership.
  • Represent BU in the Slate community, including events such as the Slate Summit.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in CRM platform delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with Slate CRM or Salesforce CRM in a configuration, engineering, or architecture capacity.
  • Experience leading a CRM team while remaining personally hands-on with platform work.
  • Experience integrating CRM platforms with enterprise systems such as SIS, identity, marketing, or analytics.
  • Active use of AI tools in day-to-day platform, integration, or analysis work.
  • Track record of partnering directly with business stakeholders to translate needs into platform solutions.

Bonus Qualifications - Nice to have but not required. We value learning and growth in applicants.

  • Higher education experience, particularly in admissions or enrollment systems.
  • Experience with applicant experience optimization, conversion analysis, or digital experience platforms.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft, SAP, or OnBase.
  • Experience evaluating or piloting AI and automation in a CRM context.
