Job Description
As a Medical Appointment Scheduler, also referred to as a Patient Appointment Services (PAS) Clerk, you'll help patients access primary and specialty care through a centralized healthcare call center supporting the Puget Sound area. You'll manage inbound and outbound calls, coordinate appointments, verify patient eligibility and information, and document interactions in MHS GENESIS while providing professional, responsive customer service.
Employment: Full-time
Work Arrangement: Remote; candidates must reside in the San Antonio, TX area.
Compensation:
  • $20.68-$22.98 USD per hour
  • Health & Welfare (H&W): Up to $5.09 per hour, in accordance with the Service Contract Act (SCA).

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with an assigned shift between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, excluding federal holidays. Overtime may be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel primary and specialty care appointments while correcting booking errors as needed.
  • Handle inbound and outbound patient calls, supporting timely appointment coordination and one-call resolution.
  • Verify patient eligibility and update demographic information to support accurate scheduling and access to care.
  • Coordinate specialty referral appointments, preventive health scheduling, and patient care reminders, including pre-appointment instructions.
  • Process appointment requests through secure messaging, document patient interactions in MHS GENESIS, and prepare outbound specialty-care notification letters.
  • Coordinate appointments across healthcare departments and military treatment facilities while meeting established schedule, service, accuracy, privacy, and performance standards.

Qualifications
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 6+ months of healthcare administrative experience.
  • 6+ months of call center experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Teams, Excel, and Outlook, with strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong customer service, telephone etiquette, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • 1+ year of healthcare administrative experience.
  • 1+ year of call-center experience.
  • Experience with CXOne, MHS GENESIS, or comparable call-center software.
